How gourmet tea bags can make you smarter …

While this seems like a truly outrageous claim, in this essay, I will show you how getting in a practice of drinking, and reusing your gourmet tea bags will allow you to fully maximize your mental capabilities.

Though a long time tea drinker, the truth did not come to me until just recently, while reading the book, “Double your Brain Power,” by Jean Marie Stine. In this book, Stine does not necessarily show the reader how to grow their IQ, but shows us how we can use our brains more efficiently; thereby becoming smarter. She makes the basic claim, that if we are in essence using a larger percentage of our brain by focusing more of it on the task at hand, we will perform better at what we are doing. Simple logic, that makes a lot of sense.

A lot of what is talked about in this book are things I had thought about before, and recognized, though never really thought too much about, or at least didn’t know how to completely understand it. In the second chapter, “Tapping Your ‘Optimum’ learning State,” Stine explains how psychologist Eric Klinger, Ph.D has done studies that show more than 75 percent of our learning power is drained off in “ticking along in thought – sorting information and generating possibilities.” And if 75 percent of our mind is somewhere else, that leaves only 25 percent of our brains focusing on learning new information, or concentrating on what we may be doing. A shocking bit of information.

So what is given in this chapter, is how we can tip the scales so that more of our energy is focused on one article by reaching our “Optimum learning state.” There are 4 basic levels of brain activity; Conscious awareness/dreams where our brain is the most active, Relaxation and meditation which is where our brain is moving at a slower pace, intense emotion or concentration which is our optimum learning state (OLS), and finally deep dreamless sleep where our brains are the least active.

Normally our brains are at the “conscious awareness and dreams” level. They are moving too fast, and we are not able to concentrate. If we want to really concentrate on one particular text, lecture, or other solitary object, then we have to make a conscious effort to slow ourselves down so that we are able to create the OLS.

The first step with this is Deep Breathing. Stine tells us that this possesses three benefits that help in achieving our OLS. First, deep breathing allows us to intake high levels of oxygen which our brain requires during peak learning levels. Second, it helps us to relax, clear our minds, and release tension. Third, deep breathing helps create a rhythmic cycle that attunes the brain to a relaxation and meditative state. Studies have shown that 5 – 7, 4 second deep breathes will be sufficient. More than 7 could have adverse effects. After this, return to natural breathing.

Now that we are almost there, we can use relaxation to deepen our OLS. For this, Stine says that once our deep breathing is complete, to close our eyes, and breathe naturally through our nose, and listen to our breathing. This will help us concentrate on our breathing, which will help us relax, and begin to concentrate on a solitary figure. After a minute or two of this, we will be ready to begin listening to a lecture, studying, or whatever it is we need to focus on. Stine also offers ways to further deepen our OLS by adding a mantra or affirmation to the relaxation portion of this.

By this point, I am sure you are asking yourself, “How do gourmet tea bags fit into this?” If we look back at the first step towards raising our consciousness, deep breathing, we see that one of the benefits is clearing our minds of tension. When we make a cup of tea, the water is hot, and steaming. The steam helps us to better clear tension. Also, by breathing in the gourmet tea, and herbal teas, the aroma further acts to help us relax; which is the purpose of the deep breathing.

After the deep breathing is over, and we have reached the second step, relaxation, small sips of the hot tea continues to slow ourselves down, as we continue to breath in the steam; however this time at a regular breathing rate. These are the basics behind how tea can be matched with Jean Marie Stine’s method of increasing our focus. Gourmet tea, however contains additional benefits that help bring us, and keep us at our OLS.

Gourmet tea bags are best for this, as they can be reused (in addition to the added health benefits). By getting into a practice of reusing our tea bags at the office, and during home study, we increase the frequency of our tea drinking. The tea bag is hanging on your tea stand, always at the tip of your fingers, making it easy to make a second and third cup of tea. Each time you feel your focus dwindling, you can make yourself another cup of tea, and go over the whole process again, returning to your OLS. Also this will allow you to get up for a minute or two, which will help to momentarily clear your head.

Also, many herbal teas contained in gourmet tea bags, such as Lemongrass and Bael Fruit, are known for their stress reducing functions while naturally raising mental alertness. These are of course added health benefits towards raising your focus, while you Double Your Brain Power.

How you should drink tea if you have Headaches, Migraines, High Blood Pressure and Stress ..

Many people have heard and seen the advertisements about tea and its various cures and benefits. Along with weight loss, cancer fighting, and other cellular benefits, curing Headaches and Migraines while reducing stress is among the top advertised. But when I see these ads, I think Why ?

After drinking tea for a while, including Green Tea, Oolong Tea, Rooibos, Lemongrass, and a wide listing of organic herbal blends, I have found that I don’t really know if I am fighting cancer inside my body. But I do know that tea can greatly help me to balance out a stressful time, and help get rid of and prevent headaches.

Simply drinking tea, especially some of the herbal blends specifically mixed for the occasion, can help with headaches, and you will receive all other benefits from the actual tea itself. But only drinking the tea in itself will not allow you to fully maximize all the potential, especially in regards to headaches and migraines. Because not always, but sometimes, drinking tea is about Drinking Tea.

I drink tea all day long. Cup after cup (Thank you, Tea Stand) I drink with no sense of traditional practice, or religious afterthought. I just drink it. But when I have a headache (from stress, migraines, sinus headache, caffeine, or many other reasons), just drinking tea isn’t always best. That is when my tradition comes out.

I don’t use special pots, or time honored traditions. There is nothing wrong with them, but I rarely have time for that, and growing up in the United States, there are no time honored tea drinking traditions. I always used tea bags (low quality as they were my only option, and didn’t know any better). So now, even though I am closer to tradition, I still do not have time for this. My Headache/Stress tea drinking practice takes less than five minutes. Usually, that is all the time I have (which is mostly why I have the headache in the first place).

I begin with the double chamber gourmet tea bag. High quality loose tea, easy to use tea bag, reusable; three of the reasons why. I rough it up a little to make the tea inside spread out, and then I put the bag into my mug. With the tea bag ready I pour steaming hot water over it. A little bit too hot to drink. When the cup is full, I bob the tea bag in and out of the water for a minute or so, and let it site for a minute (maybe, depending on how strong I want the tea, how many times have I used the tea bag already, etc.) When letting the tea bag sit, I wrap the string around the mug handle and anchoring it with the bead at the end. After the tea is ready, I take the tea bag out of the cup, and hang it on my tea stand. With green teas and Oolong teas, this is especially important. If you leave the tea bag in the cup too long it can get very bitter.

Now that my tea is ready ( a process which took maybe two minutes) I am ready to relieve myself from this nagging headache. With the cup still steaming, I cup my hands around the mug and slowly breath in the steam. Slow, deep breathes. I do this three to five times, or until the tea has cooled down a little so that I can begin drinking it. It is still hot, but I won’t burn my tongue or lips if I drink it. Then I take small slurping sips. The hot water is important not only for the steam but also for these first few sips. The hot water slows down your drinking, and also helps to clear out your head. After a couple minutes of this I am generally feeling better.

Maybe this 5 minute practice is loosely based on tradition, and doesn’t sound too complicated, but it helps me. I am sure that all in this hectic world can appreciate 5 minutes where life is slowed down and especially a tradition that is fast, easy, and that really helps to get alleviate life’s little inconveniences; headaches, migraines, and stress.

Private Label Loose Teas vs Private Label Tea bags

In a rapidly growing tea industry, a variety of companies are looking to expand their product base by adding a line of private label teas. Though this choice may seem relatively simple as there are a growing list of companies that can supply a line of private label teas, as the number of companies grow, so to does the difficulty. More choices, options, colors and kinds can make any decision difficult.

Though originally the choice was private label loose teas, now many companies are looking to add a line of private label tea bags. It was only a year or two ago when private label tea bags was a choice easy to move past as the quality of these tea bags was far lower than the private label loose teas. But now with the rise of Gourmet tea bags, where a high quality loose tea is included in the tea bags, all of the sudden this is a very real, and potentially better option.

An industry such as tea is rapidly growing, which means the number of competitors is also, rapidly growing; a barrier to entry. One of the reasons that the market is growing so fast however, is the nearly endless number of possibilities; differentiation. For those looking to enter into the tea industry, and have done their research have found that there are a vast number of “standard” teas on the market. Either high quality loose teas that are green tea, black tea or oolong tea, or regular tea bags with low quality green tea and black teas in them. This is where a vast majority of competition is.

But now, we can look at the options. If a company is interested adding Private Label Loose Teas to their product base, the best option would be to have loose Organic Herbal Teas, and Organic Herbal Tea Blends. This is where a high percentage of growth in the tea industry can be found. The reason is due to a significantly lower number of competitors and a potentially endless number of herbal blend options. Also high health benefits of the herbal teas and smooth taste makes them a favorite among tea drinkers as well as chunk of the population, non-tea drinkers. And as non tea drinkers are looking to improve their health, but have been turned away by the bitter taste of green teas, your Private Label Herbal Teas will be their to save them.

But for any tea drinker, and especially non tea drinker, who lives in the modern day reality of a hustling and bustling business world, loose tea may not be the best option. Loose tea takes more time to make, special tea utensils, all of which may not work well in this every day reality. This is large reason why commercial tea bags have become so popular despite their general low quality. So if we could mix the two, High quality Loose Tea (either herbal or standard) and the easy use of a tea bag, then this would allow the company to differentiate their product whether using “Standard” teas or unique herbal blends, instead of with loose teas where only the unique herbal blends will allow your Private Label Tea to truly stand out.

This is a very important part of the decision tree when looking to either add a new product to your already established company, or looking to start a company from scratch. Which part of the industry do you see the most growth and most potential? Which part of the industry do you see fits with not only today’s market, but also tomorrow’s ? And overall, which is best for you ?

Take the Tea Bag Out !!

What is the best way to drink tea? A question as old as the industry. There are as many different answers as there are tea drinkers. Though I plan on adding one more with this article, I intend to add a unique way that I hope you will find to be useful.

When drinking tea, I find that it makes life a lot easier to use a tea bag. Its easy to clean, they are pre-measured, there is no need for a tea strainer or other device, they are cheap, and a variety of other reasons. At the same time, there are a few major disadvantages; low quality tea is found inside, giving the tea a sharply bitter taste, and health benefits associated with tea are greatly reduced. (One reason why the tea bags are so cheap; cheap tea is included)

At this point you probably think I am writing an essay to promote drinking Loose Tea or an Organic Herbal Tea Blend. Well, that is not entirely true. Tea bags still remain my preferred method of preparing and drinking tea whether I am making a pot or cup. I have found, that as with everything, the solution lies in somewhere in the gray. If we take the two extremes, high quality Loose Tea with no tea bag and Tea bags with low quality tea, and have them meet in the middle, we find the answer; gourmet tea bags with loose tea inside. A slightly higher price for a significantly higher tea.

With my weapon of choice exposed, I will now reveal my plan of attack. For a cup of tea, I will first take out a Double Chamber Gourmet Tea bag and put it in an empty mug. I will then pour hot water over the tea bag. This will thoroughly saturate the tea bag while running water through the two chambers of loose tea. After the initial pouring, I will bob the tea bag in and out of the water for a minute to continue with the movement of the water through the tea leaves or herbs (in the case of an herbal blend). When this is completed, I allow the tea bag to soak in the water for approximately another minute. During this soaking period, I wrap the string around the handle of my mug; anchored by the bead at the end of the string. This helps to prevent the string from falling into the mug, and any dripping that may occur as the water seeps up the string.

Up until now, this practice of tea drinking is no different then any other (with the exception of the gourmet tea bag perhaps). But here is where things begin change. After the tea bag is finished soaking for another minute or so, or whenever I feel the tea tastes how I want it to, I take the tea bag out, hold it above the cup and let excess water from the tea bag drip into the cup of tea. Then hang the tea bag on my Tea Stand (or you can put the tea bag on a plate or somewhere else) and save it for a second, third, fourth, and even a fifth cup with the same gourmet tea bag.

The benefits behind this practice of reusing the tea bags are various. First, by using a gourmet tea bag with loose tea or organic herbs, you will have the same ease as using a standard tea bag while drinking tea that provides higher health benefits and a smooth taste. Second, by reusing these bags, you will enter into a practice of drinking several cups of tea a day. This not only allows you to fully maximize the health benefits you will receive from each bag of tea, but you will also fully hydrate your body which will greatly aide in the cleansing of toxins. Third, by taking out the tea bag, you steep the tea for less time, freeing your cup from an overly bitter taste that is often associated with green teas. Last, but certainly not least, you allow the slightly higher price of a cup of tea using a gourmet tea bag to become less as you are making up to five cups with one bag.

Over many years of drinking tea, with even more techniques, I have found that this is the best way for me. It is not traditional, it may not be the best for you, but with my lifestyle that takes me around a polluted city, while trying to work, maintain a family, and a social life, any way that I can make my life easier is a plus. And if I can make it better at the same time, then to me, it is an obvious choice.

An Organic Herbal Tea Blend

With US$5 billion market in the United States alone in 2003, a 500% increase in 10 years, tea is a well established industry that is quickly growing. Tea bags, loose teas, tea shops, and gourmet teas are only a few examples of the outlets for this ever increasing number. Though sales have been mainly rooted in the standard teas stemming from the Camelia sinensis plant (Green tea, Oolong tea, and Black tea), a vast increase in herbal and natural medicines in the western world has brought upon a virtual explosion of Organic Herbal Tea Blend, releasing any confinements there may have previously been. Now it is not only Big Business that is apart of this industry as the infinite number of herbal tea blends are combing with the free commerce of the internet. This conception is creating new life in an industry that had been patiently waiting. New companies are forming, new mixtures are being created, and now even new tea bags are being designed. The machine manufactured tea bags are still standard in market where cost is being put before quality. A metal staple is used to close a bag filled with low quality tea dust, which is known to have very low health benefits and give a more bitter taste than its whole leaf loose tea counterpart. Due to the manufacturing techniques used by these production factories, tea dust is the only filler able to be injected with the machines used to mass produce these bags. As the general size of each organic herbal tea blend is larger, they are unable to be used with these processed bags. Second in popularity is a relatively new pyramid shaped tea bag. A more spacious bag allows for a free floating of the loose tea that is inside. Though higher in quality than the stapled standard, problems of this style include a large shape and size that makes bulk packaging difficult. Also, most bags are filled with green and oolong loose teas, as opposed to organic herbal tea. With the combined short falls of these two bags, the ever increasing number of organic herbal tea blends and home based companies are in desperate need for a tea bag to match their unique nature. Fortunately as the number of companies is increasing, and more money is entering into the market, handmade gourmet tea bags are being created, better matching the ingenuity behind each organic herbal tea blend. It is very possible that as the number organic blends increase in popularity, raising the desire for organic products and higher health benefits, consumers will be more willing to pay slightly higher prices to receive significantly higher in quality tea bags. With this in mind, it very well could be that a unique organic herbal tea blend could be your gateway to differentiation in a busy tea industry.

Wholesale Tea: A Market of Possibilities

As the business world grows, the physical globe shrinks as products from all nations become business opportunities for companies of all sizes. A wide variety of items are available and relatively simple to acquire as the internet provides a gateway to export companies from all nations. With the rise in accessibility of "foreign" countries, on seemingly small item has now exploded into the business world; Wholesale Tea.

Before only available to those with contacts in Eastern nations including, China, Japan, India, and Sri Lanka, wholesale tea has now grown to suppliers in African nations, and importers through out the world, as a simple entry of “wholesale tea” in any search engine will provide users with a list of options supplying not only suppliers of Wholesale Tea, but also suppliers of wholesale tea bags, wholesale gift boxes and gift sets containing tea, and a variety of other similar items. A now global commerce, items such as gourmet tea bags that you will find on your local supermarket shelf may have traveled from an African wholesale tea supplier, to a manufacturing company in Thailand , to the United States or England or Autstralia where you will find the tea bags in a store sold under a third company’s brand name. As you may have noticed, the tea bag market has a full listing of names and an even fuller listing of variations. Experimentation with blends and tea bag designs are the current trends in an up and coming business. This is not to say that Wholesale Tea was not available 5 years ago, but the industry has grown far beyond green tea and breakfast tea. Now we see a variety of companies creating an even larger number of options in every facet of the wholesale tea market. In regards to the tea itself, there are a multitude of tea variations, including Jasmine Green Tea, a slight variation on tradition, Organic Rooibos, perhaps the most popular herbal tea, Lemongrass, one of many relatively new herbal teas to the mainstream industry and a very long list of blends. In the tea bag world, there are few variations with the machine packaged and stapled standard heavily dominating the market. Generally containing a low quality tea dust, these bags focus more on price than quality. Another design that is available is a pyramid shaped bag. Though packaging may not be as easy and all practicality aside, the quality is generally higher than the standard as some form of loose tea is included inside and the look is potentially more appealing. The newest entry to the market is a smooth balance between the two. Square and Round shaped, hand sewn bags are now starting to make their way to the industry with a few select companies offering both manufacturing and wholesale tea bag distribution. A new method allowing for design flexibility and the inclusion of high quality loose tea, these gourmet tea bags will put up a good fight against the aforementioned variations.

With the many variables available in both tea blend and tea bag manufacturing,
wholesale tea is a prime example of how with the growth of communication and transportation, business opportunities are as easy to find as your kitchen cabinet. With a little creativity and a good manufacturer, any budding entrepreneur looking for an opening, or any currently established business looking to expand, can now step into the Tea bag world.

My Mythical Journey to Gourmet Tea bags

Whether it is the cancer fighting abilities, the immune system strengthening, the weight loss assisting, the headache relieving, or any of the other superhero capabilities possessed by this beverage, drinking tea is beneficial to your health. Though the actual level of increased health benefits may be in question, there are very few who will refute the statement, “It is a good idea to drink tea.”

There is nothing new to that statement. And in regards to other blurbs surrounding the quote, there is a general consensus that teas such as Jasmine Green Tea, or the herbal teas Lemongrass and Rooibos tea contains Anti oxidants that help fight dangerous free radicals in our bodies that can cause cancer and prematurely age our skin. And there are standard tea bags on the market, and there is a small selection of gourmet tea bags, that for one reason or another are gourmet.

So if all of this is at least somewhat true, then the next question might be, how can I let this information best help me (with as little disruption to my life as possible). To find the answer to this, I began walking down the main street of Tea Town, USA.

Upon first arrival, I ran into a couple muses who promised a pretty package and a sweet taste. I was interested in drinking tea, and the description was intriguing. Perhaps only a sailor to these sirens, I listened to their song. My footsteps were stopped as I enjoyed a cup…Such exotic names, and a mesmerizing color, I remained stunned and unaware.

But as a drought hit, the buzz subsided, and my eyes wandered to the horizon. Though not completely sure what the future would hold, I was confident it was better than where I was. Forward, I moved on.

As I continued on, I found I was in a City with a solid infrastructure. Big buildings with even bigger names thoroughly saturating a market. I could not deny their unavoidable shadow, so I decided to venture in. Though an undeniable corporate presence, I could not shake the feeling that there was something missing. As I walked in, I kept my eyes open, ready for any ghosts there may be. With my first step, I found myself in darkness. My only knowledge of my location was what was told to me. I thought I was where I wanted to be, drinking tea (plus the tea bags had a nice smell ).

But as I decided to stay, the weather became stormy, as a harsh and bitter taste was left in my mouth. I began looking for a light. Down a side alley I viewed a small window, allowing in rays from the now rising sun. Onward I pushed. As I slowly moved closer, the darkness began to fade revealing the truths about my surroundings….Nothing but Dust.

Though at first I was not phased by the discovery, the seed was planted as I sat by the window soaking in the light. And as another storm began, the rains soon followed, conceiving the birth of a tree. As this tree quickly grew, the foundation was cracked, exposing the inside to the sun. With the revealing of the light, so to was the site of leaves covering dust… And as I looked at this, I remembered where I was, Tea Town, USA.

I quickly dusted myself off, and ran for the hills, arriving in a field of green. Finally, I was where I wanted to be. This green world of tea, a plateau hidden from time.

All was fine until one day I began to wander and wonder as I a questioned the distance of the fields. I explored down towards the valley, and I started to notice a change in the color as I entered into a small town neighboring my new village.

High quality teas were not just whole green leaves, but also Red Bush teas, and black teas, and aged teas, white teas, floral teas. I had found my balance. A mixture of high quality teas of different colors and tastes. And as I remained, and lived in peace, it was in this small town where I found the answer to my original question; how can I let my knowledge of tea best help me (with as little disruption to my life as possible). The answer was found in this small corner of the globe. A Tea Bag that contained the high quality tea I found to be the best. With this Classic looking bag, I had finally found my choice. The Gourmet Tea Bags are easy to use, easy to clean, and most importantly provide an increased level of health benefits…

The Difference Inside Gourmet Tea bags.

There is nothing new in the realization that along with drinking Tea comes a wide array of health benefits. But as you may have seen, or heard, there is such a thing called loose tea, which looks like what “tea leaves” should look like. Yet in every tea bag seen on the market there is something else. And if there are gourmet tea bags that contains loose tea that look like leaves, and then there are every other tea bag in the market that looks like something else, could it be that the health benefits found is equal for both variations?

The “Freshness” of tea, and the maintaining of whole tea leaves is important to the health benefits provided. Very few tea bags on the market now offer products that contain loose tea. What you will see in almost every tea bag now available, is a manufactured bag that is most often filled with “Tea Dust.” Tea Dust is considered to be the lowest quality tea available. While processing the whole tea leaves, small particles fall to a storage binbelow. These remnants are the tea dust that you will find in most tea bags. Highly oxidized and dried out, this sandy variation contains only a fraction of health benefits consumers expect, while at the same time giving a harsh and bitter taste. The flavored teas are even worse as they use the absolute lowest of the lowest, when the taste of the tea doesn’t matter because the added flavoring is what the tea drinker will taste.

The major reason for the use of low quality tea is of course money. The tea dust is cheap in price as it is cheap in quality. The high quality loose tea found in the gourmet tea bags, has been properly stored and processed to provide a high quality drink. They are then sold on a higher end loose tea market, and sold worldwide. Generally the loose tea has been used with tea pots, or with infusers. Used mostly by “tea drinkers,” loose tea never fully made it to the commercial scene.
